A project by Eishan Parmar, Alyssa Barton, Gabe Stay, Joe Flot, and Maya Roman

The Problem

The resources available to Pitt students are scattered across many disjointed webpages and portals.

Our Solution

We propose a central hub that organizes all the software and technical resources (camera equipment, 3D printing, etc.) available to students into a streamlined system.

Definition

Students have access to many resources which the university provides. Between 3D printing to powerful biological analysis software, Pitt students have the tools to develop their great ideas into reality. Though as faculty and students alike realize, a lack of awareness prevents many from using these assets.

Our proposed solution to this issue will provide a central portal to publicize the resources and make them easily available.

Quality

Making what the university offers easier to access holds importance for several reasons.

- Students have greater knowledge of the tools available to them which opens the door creatively for big ideas.

- Users have more efficient access to resources minimizing time wasted searching.

- Students benefit from a greater value for the tuition they pay.

Policy

Going forward we have a general four step process to guide our project

1. Identification of available resources.

2. Categorization of identified resources.

3. UI design based on categories.

4. Implement code to search for resources.
